Milestones and collaborations…

Jane has been extremely busy with our Learn to Row Programme, encouraging new rowers towards their ‘Passports to Explore’. We have been making the most of this exceptional weather window and maximising evenings and weekends for group adventuring sessions.

Our trial adventure from Lymington to The Noisy Lobster at Avon Beach was very enjoyable and a great success. We left Lymington and had a gentle row following the coastline; Milford, Hordle Cliff, Barton. Highcliffe and onto Avon Beach with a Pilates stop enroute! Hurst narrows was a really ‘lively’ challenge and we both wished we’d had the GoPro on to share that with you, maybe next time!

For less experienced rowers we can start this route from Milford Beach instead.

We had our final LARC Lockdown Adult session in Oxey Lakes, so warm, most of us went in for a quick dip! These boats are so easy to recover, it was a refreshing pause on a hot evening.

The Midlands and Wessex Recreational Rowing Reps trialled a sunset adventure through the Oxey Lakes and we have rowers from Christchurch, Coalporters and Dolphin Rowing Club, all keen to find ways of getting their crew rowers afloat and happy to give single sculling a go in these stable GlideSolos.

We are very excited to welcome our first Pink Champagne Dragonboater from Hengistbury Head. These amazing ladies are up for a new adventure and keen to give rowing a go. Hilary had a glorious morning for her Try Rowing Taster session with Jane. I popped by before work to enjoy seeing lots of smiles as she she grasped the idea of moving backwards!! I feel a new Pink Champagne T shirt slogan in the making…

Passionate about rowing and the mental and physical health benefits that being outside and on the water can bring, we have started collaborative talks with many others with a similar mission to ours as good news spreads fast…

We’ve made contact with Rowing the World (World Adventure Tours) and Girl on the River (BR’s newest blogger) to discuss possible future collaborations. We want to share the love of Coastal Rowing far and wide.

We are also following the progress of adventurer Chris The Coastal Walker, from Cambridge who is walking the 11,000 miles of the Great British Coastline for Children in Need. We will welcome him warmly once he reaches our shores and have sent his link to all of the Hants and Dorset Clubs so that they can hopefully do the same. Chris plans to walk between 20-30 miles per day.

Our next blog will include exciting news on the arrival of new boats to add to our fleet for the more experienced adventurers, a trial adventure to Beaulieu and (hopefully) the opening of our new webshop.

Keep enjoying your summer days. #Stay safe.
